About the Firm

Now in practice for nearly thirty years, Charlie Kinne founded
Kinne IP Group after many years of practice with
two of Chicago's most well-known patent law firms. Working with talented people with experience in
intellectual property matters, Mr. Kinne offers flexibility in representation, tailoring the firm's approach to the client's
specific needs.
Mr. Kinne has extensive
experience in patent and trademark litigation,
dispute resolution, counseling and obtaining patents and trademark registrations in the U.S. and abroad.
Kinne IP Group's clients fit no particular pattern. Some are large corporations from around the United States:
a Georgia company with annual sales in the billions, an Oklahoma company with annual sales in the
hundreds of millions, an Illinois company with annual sales of about one hundred million and an
Arkansas company with tens of millions in annual sales. Some are individuals and start-up companies who have yet to
realize their potential. Many are sized in between.
Kinne IP Group's work is varied, as well. The firm
successfully
defended protracted patent litigation, it continues to work with individuals and large corporations pursuing
patent and trademark protection, and it handles disputes for and advises clients on a number of intellectual
property matters.
In every situation, the firm treats the work at hand as the most important work it has. No client or matter is too small to deserve our full attention.
The firm's team approach permits it to handle complex matters by calling on outside help when necessary. For most matters, only one
lawyer's work is required; there is no need to duplicate effort. However, for complex litigation, Mr. Kinne has enlisted the aid of hand-picked lawyers with whom
he has worked in the past. By looking outside as well as within the firm for help, Mr. Kinne matches the best people to the client's needs - without delegating
responsibility, losing focus or overlooking detail. This team approach is unique to a small firm, avoiding the overhead and billing pressures often present in
larger firms while at the same time making it possible to provide thorough representation in complex litigation.
At all times, the firm's focus is pragmatic. We assess the risks, we explain the options, and we counsel what makes business sense to the client.
